    I think squats are the only exercise where a barbell is absolutely necessary for gain

    Good luck building dat ass with pure bodyweight squats

    You'll have chicken legs for life

    But pushups/pullups/rows/dips will build a nice upperbody

    I can't think of any pure calisthenics guys with a lower body I consider nice

    I just realized that my OP wasn't clear at all

    I should've just said that bodyweight squats are useless tbh

    You can get a fit upperbody and never pick up a weight

    but i think it's close to impossible to get enough consistent progressive overload to build big legs without weights

    Every hiker knows you can get sexy ass and legs with tough hikin

    But depends on your goals... if you want to look like you have the legs of this guy yeah you cant do that just hikin.
