there were several shots back & forth, but I'll compare the main tracks. Takeover and Ether both went hard, I'd say they're close to tied, with Ether arguably being stronger. Supa Ugly got really personal, then Nas had another response (I think with the same sample as Paid in Full?) that was lyrically strong, and had the edge. so I voted Nas. I just wish I could remember that Nas song, it wasn't Realest N*gga Alive, it was something else.
as for Biggie vs Pac, obviously 2pac won, although Biggie is one of my favorite rappers, and always vibed to him more.

Theories about rights, freedom, and dignity are dangerous, however - dangerous to tyrannies of all kinds, of ignorance, superstition, poverty, and the rest.
Once you acquire a marketplace soul, the suk is the totality of existence.First food, then morality. The sun is shining, but the ice is slippery.Beyond the walls of intelligence, life is defined.
Swift as the wind; silent as a forest; fierce as fire; immovable as a mountain; inscrutable as shadows; sudden as lightning.
there's two different questions: who won the hip-hop battle, and who won the war for career/influence? Nas won the battle, Jay-Z won the war.

I kind of agree
Thats why I made the thread.
I think on one had, Nas won the battle by most measures. Of all the various songs in and around the beef, Ether stands alone as the best. He rapped better than Jay. Which is no small feat, obviously.
But Jay wouldn't accept defeat and dropped that bomb you mentioned. And that's the one wildcard factor that can level the playing field in a battle. Willingness to be straight up disrespectful.
It's just kind of conflicting. It seems more honorable to reward skill over savagery. We all love Hit Em Up. But that level of one-upmanship results in a cycle of dead young rappers that continues to this day. I think every rapper goes into every diss knowing they have to balance how disrespectful they are going to be. I love The Story of Adidon. Some say it was a low blow/cheap shot by Push
Depends where your loyalties and rooting interests lie i suppose.
I got Nas edging it out just barely. But I can see why people would say Jay won. I've gone back and forth a time or two myself
