good question! there's alot of good, lesser known games that are still spin-offs or had a sequel.
without a doubt, it's Gimmick! for the NES. a cartoony platformer with complex physics, great design, fantastic music & atmosphere, etc. it's a masterpiece that was slept on back in the day, but it's been rediscovered by the internet, leading to a sort of renaissance of ppl playing it and speedrunning it. Just make sure you're playing the Japanese version, Gimmick! (not the Scandinavian port Mr. Gimmick, where the sound is trash).

I actually really fw Lost Odyssey when it came out cu, I always liked Final Fantasy but had an Xbox, seem decent story. Clearly inspired and made by ff vets 8/10
