I don’t disagree with this but it’s not binary for me, I don’t have to let someone ruin my special
evening because they are having troubles. They can take that elsewhere imo. Just as I would if I were experiencing hardship.

Is this from strangers in a public place? I doubt I'd try to fight, I generally de-escalate. I'd be hard pressed to think of a scenario where a random person could say something to/about me that would get me to the point of fighting. People in the pharmacy used to wish me death and it was just whatever.
