Who here had to pay rent growing up?

Who here had to start paying rent / or got kicked out at 18? Do you have resentment towards it?

Would you make your kids pay rent ? Kick them out at 18?

Did you contribute financially to your house as a kid / young adult ?

Would you pay for your child’s college? Car ?

Would you set them up financially or are they on their own ?

I moved out at 17. Got an apartment. At 19 bought a condo. Moved my mom and sister in with me. Mom moved her boyfriend in. I sold the place and got a new place on my own. Went to police academy and bought a house. Now I have another house.

If I have a kid one day he or she will learn the value of a dollar and if they show me they can be responsible with finances, they will get nice things and I’d pay for college.

the older i get the more i realize how lucky i was.

my parents never charged me rent. their rule was as long as i was in school or working and not blowing money on dumb shit, i didnt have to. they did say they would charge me rent if i got tattoos but i called their bluff and was right lol.

they gave me a couple cars. my dad owns an auto shop and cars come through all the time that the owner doesnt want to fix that he'd pass off to me. i still have 1 of them like 11 years later. think he paid $300 for it. great investment.

they also put me through college.

i would definitely like to be able to do all of these things for my kids if we have the means to.

Fine Print: Experience=knowledge/memory. From there thought arises and we act, which produces experience which equals knowledge/memory, and more thought arises, and we act. Its a viscious cycle.

my mom said I'm not going to be a grown man living in her house for free, if I stayed longer I would have had to pay rent. but I would do it anyway without asking.

I find it weird. One day you’re 17, next day your 18.. and all of a sudden a grown man

That’s a little boy whose 18, old enough to go to war .. but not old enough to drink
